Neil Patrick Harris (Dr. Horrible) has admitted that he’d jump at the chance to appear on Joss Whedon’s “Dollhouse”.

Asked about appearing in Dollhouse, Harris laughed. “Wow! Well, you know, I’m in CBS’ corner right now because of How I Met Your Mother, so I don’t know that I’d be able to, but I think it’s produced by 20th Century Fox, so, you know, they’re sort of cousins,” he said. “That would be fun! All right. I’ll ask Joss! I like being a cousin in the Whedon family, so whatever he wants me to do. Except porn.”

Mark Sheppard of Firefly, Battlestar Galatica and even Bionic Woman fame, has apparently confirmed that he’ll be appearing in Dollhouse. Posting on the Scifi boards, ‘he’ revealed that he starts on Monday (August 18th). It’s unknown what capacity he’ll have in the show but judging by the time of his joining, it looks like he’ll be appearing in episode 3 and possibly (hopefully) onwards.

Joss Whedon already has one BSG fan favourite in his ranks, Tahmoh Penikett plays Paul Smith, an FBI agent on the hunt for the “urban myth” that is the Dollhouse. Will Sheppard play a similar role? Will he be Smith’s antagonist? Will he be another member of the Dollhouse management? Will he be a former “active“?

Whatever his role, I’m confident he’ll do a fine job. Along with Michelle Ryan‘s bionic thighs, he was the best thing about last years Bionic Woman. Whedon sure is building a fine collection of…dolls.

Worried that FOX might get out her claws and scratch another one of Joss Whedon’s shows from existence? Still mentally scarred by what happened to “Firefly”? Fear not, for it’s all love between FOX boss Kevin Reilly and “Dollhouse” creator Joss Whedon:

Reilly on Whedon: “The only reason Joss wasn’t on my list is because I thought there was no way he was coming back. Every time I called him about something, they said, ‘He’s busy. He doesn’t want to do it.’  Then, Joss got hit in the head with a lightning bolt of an idea. He’s wanted to work with Eliza Dushku, they got together, he left that lunch and said, ‘Dammit, I’ve got an idea, now I’ve got to do it.’ He just showed up (with the pitch) and (our) answer was yes. Joss was a gift.”

Whedon on FOX:  “These are different people. They didn’t do to me what was done to ‘Firefly.’ It’s a completely different energy then the last time. FOX understands what it is we’re trying to do. I understand clearly what they want. And while there’s definitely a back and forth, there’s a collaboration. Not just people glaring at each-other.”

“I feel really good about how they plan to position it, and their feeling about it as a concept and as a show.”

Whedon on Whedon: “The understanding that I reached was with myself,”..[on returning to television]..That I had to be realistic about what the network expected of me and about what the chances for the show would be. Like, I fell in love with ‘Firefly’ in a very blind and adolescent way. And I tried to meet the network halfway. But at the same time, you know, it was agony. Everything was agony for me.”

Joss Whedon is a busy man, not only has he busy with Dollhouse and Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, he’s also hooked back up with Drew Goddard (“Buffy” co-writer) for their MGM thriller Cabin In The Woods:

“Cabin” is the studio’s first movie to get the greenlight from Mary Parent, head of the studio’s worldwide motion picture group. Logline’s being kept under wraps.

Goddard has served as writer and exec producer on “Lost” and most recently wrote the screenplay for “Cloverfield.”

He and Whedon first teamed on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” which Whedon created, and also worked together on the “Buffy” spinoff “Angel.” Goddard also worked on “Alias” as a writer and co-producer.

According to Goddard:

“It‘s genius, it‘s funny, It‘s got a harder and darker edge, but it‘s also got classic Whedon qualities. It‘ll rip your heart out and be heartfelt at the same time..There‘s a reason the title is so straightforward, it‘s its own sub–genre, the ‘cabin in the woods‘, and this is sort of our take on it. It‘s fresh and new.”

I can’t say I’m that excited about Cabin in the Woods, but i’m sure it will be worth a look!

That’s the question posed to Joss Whedon by TV Guide’s Matt Roush, to which Joss responds:

Well, Eliza (Dushku) has a lovely voice. But first I have to make a normal Dollhouse, which is hard enough

Whedon also reveals that Dollhouse is coming along nicely, despite a few kinks in the system:

There’s still tweaks. Birth pangs. It’s never simple, but it’s going well
