Dollhouse UK

Dollhouse premiered to good numbers in the UK this week:

Sci fi are celebrating the success of its latest offering, Dollhouse.

It went up against Sky Ones Prison Break finale and according to the early viewing figures came out on top, which is a real surprise, considering the popularity of the Prison Break series.

The figures for Dollhouse at the 9pm slot were 263,000 or 1.3 per cent, there was an additional 76,000 or 0.5 per cent on the time shifted version, which is shown an hour later.

Those are impressive numbers considering they were up against the season finale of Prison Break, which is fairly popular in the UK.

Elsewhere, Eliza Dushku talks to WhatsOnTV. She gives a quick explanation as to why Echo is a doll in a house:

“The first time we meet Echo, she is broken down and in a real jam. She doesn’t really have any other option but to join this organisation for five years. So she signs on the dotted line, and next thing you know, she’s living in The Dollhouse.”

I do hope there’s actually more to it than that! I mean, we all get into jams, but signing your life over and having no control over who you are and what you do? For me, Echo’s origins – the reason why she joined the DH, has to be one of the most satisfying aspects of the show’s mythology. I don’t have to like the reason, but it has to make has to carry weight. If I recall, Echo’s induction into the DH is touched on in later episodes, though I expect more to be revealed about that.

The Independant talk to Joss Whedon abouot Buffy and stuff.

In other news Fox are abandoning their Remote-Free-TV experiment, meaning that episodes of Dollhouse will be shorter next season. I’m actually relived by this, there were a good few episodes in the first six that were far too long, clunky and boring. Yes, I’m talking about you back-up singer episode! 🙂

Since I’m behind on DH episodes, I’m planning to watch those that I’ve missed. Starting with this:

Actually, I have seen most of this episode, but I’ll save my thoughts for another day.

That episode that you’ve watched was completely awful, wasn’t it? lmao

Good for Dollhouse for getting good numbers though.

Ugh. That’s all I can say to “Echoes,” which really makes me angry — I expect you’ll feel the same. It had such amazing potential and yet…blah. Although Adelle DeWitt was hilarious. But that’s about it on that arena.

And don’t we ALL boo down the backup singer episode? Gah! In any case, glad to hear that it did well in the UK. Me, I’ll miss remote-free TV, but mainly because I’d rather watch boring “Dollhouse” exposition than commercials. But, oh well — if that’s the trade off for a second season I’ll gladly take it.

I must say, this episode was difficult to find online.
