Dollhouse’s New Year Resolutions for 2009

by admin on January 6, 2009 · 2 comments

So, it’s 2009 (what? really?), a year of optimism and hope, but what ‘resolutions’ should “Dollhouse” aim for this year? Here are a few that I would like to see:

(In no particular order)

* Make the show as serialized as possible, if we’re to really connect with these on/off “Actives”.

* Less Eliza Dushku and more ensemble (in terms of marketing the show).

* No more ‘Save Dollhouse’ campaigns – especially if the show doesn’t deserve it.

* If Dollhouse sucks, please cancel it. I guess the word “sucks” is relative, so to make a comparison, if it’s as bad a post-season 1 “Heroes”, please for the love of all that is good – cancel it. I can’t afford to watch another show just to see how progressively bad it’s become. Damn you Tim Kring!

* Before you cancel it, give it a chance – that is, let it see out the 10 ordered episodes before writing it off. I guess what I’m hoping for is ‘balance’.

* Make sure that you SEE at least one episode of “Dollhouse” before you’re willing to lay down your life for it. Seriously, lets wait until Feb 13 (or preferably longer) before we go nuts (or otherwise) for this little show. We’ll only be disappointed if we expect the world and get a doll house.

* Be critical of Whedon and the show when it’s deserved. I know what it means to be a “fan” of something that you admire, but even my beloved “LOST” got a bit ropey when they started locking people in polar bear cages (fun though it was to see Jack in a polar bear cage).

* Spoil responsibly.

* Let’s get back to the premise of this show, which still excites me. Whether or not the show was devised over lunch and was intended to be the launch pad for Dushku’s career, frankly, I don’t care about that. Somehow, someway, an interesting premise was formulated – lets explore that!

* Fox have done a great job at creating a world outside of the show for “Fringe”, lets have one of those Viral/ARG thingy’s for Dollhouse too. I know times are hard but lets think outside of the box here.

Also, can we throw in world peace, John Locke getting back to the island and an end to Reality TV (except Idol which gets love from me because it is now “Fringe’s” lead in ;))?

Anyway, I’d also like to say a big thank you to TruEcho and TophersLilSister who have done a stellar job in helping out with our forums. And, of course, to all of you who have commented, read, criticised, enjoyed, etc our little corner of a show with a good premise – thank you.

What do you mean it was 2009 six days ago? I stroll to the beat of my own drum, lol.

Speaking of being serialized, this article about Dollhouse’s partner show, Sarah Connor Chronicles, is worth reading:

Maybe FOX isn’t entirely against it after all.

Thanks for the link Nevermore. That’s great news for TSCC – maybe there is hope for a serialized “Dollhouse” afterall..
