Fox Launch Official Dollhouse Site

Fox have launched their official Dollhouse website to accompany the show. There’s not much there at the moment but knowing Fox they’ll eventually give it similar treatment as they have the awesome “Fringe”.

One thing that I find interesting about the site, is the banner – It’s very striking and at first I didn’t know whether I loved it or hated it. But I think I kinda dig it – I like the interactive way in which it ‘assembles’ when the page is accessed, and the symbolism is fairly neat. Echo has the whole city on her body, representing the millions of different persona’s that she can become. But it’s a night-time city – so it matches the dark, seedy and often sinister things that happen at night, perhaps alluding to the dark, seedy and often sinister ethics of mind-wiping. The image also makes Echo appear ‘scarred’ and ‘bruised’, and she also looks ‘spirit-like’ – perhaps his is representative of her spirit or soul – the part of her that cannot be wiped, but can be scarred and bruised by the constant struggle to be free?

I’m not sure about the “Dollhouse” font – it’s OK, but if they’re hiring people to design the site for them, they should work on the font a bit – lowercase, really? I know, I know, it’s only a temporary placeholder, but I can only give my honest opinion. Speaking of banners, I’ve been meaning to change the one – but I need more images to work with. Please FOX, can we have some more

There’s also an official Dollhouse Wiki. With any luck it will turn out to be as valuable to the DH community as the fan-made LOST version or the original inspiration itself.

i might be kind of annoying already, but i still wanna point out the fan-run Dollhouse Wiki. maybe it’s not perfect yet, but i think it’s underrated… 🙂

I like the lowercase…

@ wiesengrund – yeah it would be great if that wiki took off. I’m a big believer in projects actually started by the fans for the fans.

P.S. I’ve added it to the links.

@Rikardo – It’s growing on me a bit, but I still prefer the original Dollhouse font. I wonder which one they’ll go with for the upcoming promos/viral..

As for the font and the lowercase styling they decided to go with… Total rip off of birdhouse skateboard company. Same exact font… in lowercase. I bet Tony Hawk made a little money off of the deal.
