It would seem to make more sense if she was floating, because of the way her arms are positioned, but you're right, it's not clear what she is doing.

I think you're right Re: the 'calm before the storm' in the Fringe poster, I think that shot is taken from a particular moment in the pilot episode..but i'll say no more on that as I don't want to spoil it for you ;)

Yeah, the DH poster does seem to be more 'layered' in what it's trying to say. As you say, it does seem like Echo is trying to tell the audience something..and then the gun, well that's a whole other level!

Ah, it's all good, the more chat the better! :D

Looking at Dollhouse poster I have trouble in deciding if Echo is floating or is she emerging from the water?
Floating denotes calm, peace if the person is alive, or denotes something dead. Looking at the fringe poster, the women is definitely floating, her eyes are close, her hair is floating around her hair and the water is calm, the entire poster reflects some kind of peace, the calm before the storm maybe?

Now, dollhouse is much more complicated, her eyes are open and looking right back at you, her mouth (opposing to the Fringe’ poster) is also open, is she going to tell you something? While some of her hair is floating around her face, most of it is under water, is like she’s submerging from the water, witch by the way, is not calm, there are ripples on the water above her head and under the title. The only thing suggestion floating is the position of her harms and hands, but even that is smash down by the gun in her hand.

So while the Fringe one suggest calm and floating and suspense, the dollhouse is more obscure, it gives the impression of calm and floating but underlie is anything but calm, so is deceptive, it’s saying that things aren’t what they seem, that calm it actually action, and that looks can be deceptive.

And…. I’m rather chatting tonight between this post and the one at forum; I think I reach my quota of the day.
